SPORTS SCALE - MULTI-ROLE COMBAT AIRCRAFT

If you think all jet type models are difficult to fly then think again. The HMM Tornado is amazingly easy and reassuring to fly, I have not flown a model like it for rock solid stability, low low passes are a doddle! Solo hand launches are easy and it will land extremely slowly, it behaves more like a good trainer than a jet. I would honestly recomend it as a trainer if it were not for the shape which can be misleading for the beginner - disorientation would quickly be a problem. With a good .49 it's quick too.

Mostly balsa with ABS fairings for the nose, tail, cockpit and spine, the slab sides of Tornado make it a natural for this type of construction which is fast and easy to build. Without the engine it can be flown from the slope as a glider (PSS). The fixed wing (there is no provision for it to sweep) is veneered foam and includes fitted leading and trailing edges. We have included a removeable u/c as an option so that it can be flown from tarmac or rough grass.

The kit comes with all pre-cut ply and balsa, the basic hardware need to fly it on the slope. There is an optional u/c pack containing wheels, legs and clamps. A power hardware pack is also available containing, fuel tank, engine mount, screws, nuts and bolts, snakes, clevises and horns.

There is a review in the December 93 issue of RCM&E
