PHANTOM F4

POWER/SLOPE ELECTRIC (OR ROCKET)

Dual purpose for power or PSS (Power Scale Soarer) and significantly updated over the years to keep up with all the outrageous things that modellers told us they were doing with it.

Powered by an Irvine .20 the PHANTOM it out-performs many larger models, it is easy to fly but will keep you on your toes.

Accurate scale appearance, in fact one of the most scale R/C Phantoms in production. Almost ready built construction featuring a moulded ready joined plastic fuselage, very tough and easy to glue. Blue foam wing cores, great self adhesive coloured markings, fully illustrated photographic instructions. Together these comprise the basic kit. Additionally there are 3  optional pack:- hardware for glider version, additional hardware for power (.20/25) and a balsa pack.

For 2 - 3 channels it has a 32" (800mm) span and a 37" (940mm) long fuselage. As far as we know it has flown with up to .09 -.48 (I don't believe it either) sized motors, rocket power and electric power (540/550 and 6 - 9 cells), home made electric and i.c. ducted fan and even free flight with a small diesel (well I read that it was done but don't know if it was a success)!

Quotes:

RC Soaring Digest USA July 86 - "spectacular moulded fuselage ....a work of art and worth the price....real good, stable flyer"

RCM&E -  "responsive and doesn't have any bad habits"

RC Model World Oct 86 - "Moving around the sky at speed the Phantom certainly looks the part, portraying the large menacing bulk of its full size counterpart ......it certainly goes together easily"

Production status

As I am no longer making and selling Phantoms you will have to contact Phil Dorren for one either by telephone at 01288 341117 or email: phild(usual symbol for at)waitrose.com  Phil works primarily as a consultant in computing support will and sell the models via mail order as well as at future shows. He may also have something ready very soon for those of you who prefer to concentrate on electric flight, the recent advances in electric power have enabled him to finish off what I had made a start on with the Electric Moonraker and develop electric versions of Chandelle and Vendetta as well.
